Why All Parents Need to Pay Attention to the Pelletier Case

In this Fox News Channel discussion, Dr. Keith Ablow, a Forensic Psychiatrist, discusses the Pelletier case with a news anchor and with Sharon Liko, a family law attorney. During the discussion, Liko makes this remarkable statement:

“What people need to understand is if the state gets involved, if social services gets involved, they are God. They are like a bulldog with rabies. They latch on and they don’t let go. If they tell you to wear pink on Thursday you wear pink on Thursday.”

Her description of Child Protective agency personnel throughout this country is spot on. They can be vicious, petty, and abusive. I don’t agree with her, though, when she says you need to wear pink on Thursday. CPS folk like to have you believe that judges do their bidding. Unfortunately, that can in fact be the case. Corrupt judges can be CPS’ best friend. But even then there are appeals to hopefully more objective judges with integrity.

It’s important for parents to get an attorney that will fight for them. If you ever find yourself in CPS’ crosshairs, run – don’t walk – from any attorney that recommends you “do what they tell you and everything will be fine.”
